CareMore Health Plan is featured as a "Medical Home Run" in the Health Affairs Journal!

Only Group In Los Angeles County Named in Study that Highlighted Examples of Primary Care Practices that Show Better Ways to Substantial Savings

CERRITOS, Calif. – CareMore Medical Group, the exclusive physician organization serving seniors for CareMore HealthPlan, has been named one of four medical groups in the U.S. that constitute a “medical home run” in providing high quality medical care with reduced health care costs.

CareMore’s prevention and intensive proactive medical care concept was featured in a study published in Health Affairs Magazine (Volume 28, Number 5) by authors Arnold Milstein and Elizabeth Gilbertson.

The study’s authors contacted health plans and risk-bearing physician groups across the U.S. that evaluated primary care offices and physician groups on measures of total annual risk adjusted health care spending per patient. The list of groups was then paired down based on based on data supplied by health plans and then measured against peer organizations.

CareMore was one of four groups named in the U.S., the only group in Los Angeles County. In the study, the groups held a common pivotal feature – exceptional individualized caring for those with chronic illness such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and severe breathing conditions. The study cited each group was comprised of “a primary care team so committed to their patients that they would go to extraordinary means to protect them from preventable health crises.”

CareMore’s high quality intensive care model was underscored by its approximate 15 percent less cost per capita health care spending that is below the regional average of its peers.

“The study validates our philosophy of providing more care when it is needed the most with a well-trained medical team,” said (name), CareMore. “We’ve demonstrated that exceptional medical care does not need to cost more; it just takes more of a commitment from well trained experts with the resources to do what it takes to keep patients healthy and out of the hospital.”
